INSTALLATION PROCESS

MPC (Mechanical Polished Concrete) are easy to maintain, hard wearing luxury and smooth floors. As we do in the Grind & Seal process, the first couple of stages are exactly the same with Mechanical Polished Concrete: we start by grinding the slab to the desired exposure level. Once we reach our desired aggregate exposure, in case cracks and holes appear, we need to patch them before continuing.

The next stage is a bit more labor intensive than Grind & Seal, since we proceed to harden the floor and grout it to fill all the pinholes in order to have a compact and consistent floor before the polishing process starts.

What makes this process different from Grind & Seal is that in this case we are not coating the floor with a topical sealer, instead, we are treating the floor with different chemicals, such as Potassium, Sodium, Lithium and Grouting Solution which will build our floor from the bottom of the slab, making it much more durable than other finishes.

The level of sheen will also determine the duration and cost of the process. If we want to achieve a low sheen satin floor, the process won’t be that long as if we are looking for a high gloss mirror effect. In this cases we continue polishing the floor with finer grits up to #3000 for its maximum gloss effect.

Same logic as sandpaper. The color and amount of the stone aggregate and background of the slab will depend exclusively of the concrete mix the previous concreter laid. This is one of the most popular options for residential areas as well as commercial spaces due to its great looks and durability.

MPC or Mechanical Polished Concrete floors are probably the most durable option available in the flooring market. This option adds value to any home and saves money and time due to its easy cleaning and maintenance, this is why most of the biggest supermarkets choose this type of floor.
